The clay soil here results in pooling in many areas of the property attracting mosquitoes. We also asked for an area for a fire pit for cooler weather evening star gazing. The yard was planted approximately 25 years ago, and was completely overgrown. Almost everything had to go. After home renovations that tore up exiting landscaping, our yard was much in need of some love. We wanted landscaping that is relatively low maintenance while providing food and habitat to suburban wildlife. I read about Wild Works of Whimsey's projects using plants native to our area, knew i had found the right fit for our project, and contacted Trista. She provided a homeowner survey to gather basic information about our property. After seeing the area to be planted and learning about our soil, drainage, and sunlight, she suggested plants for us to research; then we worked together on the final selections. Once the plants were delivered, Trista provided guidance on planting and early maintenance. We were fortunate to be ready to plant in late fall to allow the plants to become established, and look forward to their emergence in the spring.
